Shoshanna Godber

Shoshanna Godber

Shoshanna is a performing pianist, vocalist, Celtic harpist and Clawhammer banjo player. She loves variety both in terms of repertoire and instruments. She is a classically trained pianist and vocalist with a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of British Columbia and recognizes the importance of a strong base in classical music. However, she also appreciates the challenge and fun of playing different styles and strives to find a balance. She incorporates skills into her lessons that help her students develop into well-rounded musicians capable of both reading music and playing by ear or lead sheet. Her specialty is young students, and she absolutely loves the Music For Young Children method and thinks it provides the best music foundation possible. She has had extensive education and experience with young children through her work as a children's librarian, Mother Goose Facilitator and Parent and Tot program coordinator. "Shoshanna is a wonder! She is a skilled, patient and empathic teacher with an unerring eye for what needs work and how that work can be effectively approached. She is an extremely gifted and expressive musician, yet engages with genuine enthusiasm with those of us who are just learning to love and play the harp. I feel extraordinarily fortunate to be able to study with Shoshanna, to benefit from her knowledge, and to be a recipient of her exceptional gift for teaching music."
