About Us

The Prince George Conservatory of Music is a non-profit music school and the largest music educator in Northern British Columbia, serving Prince George, Vanderhoof, Quesnel, and the Robson Valley since 1984. The PGCM is located on the traditional unceded territory of the Lheidli T'enneh. We have been a chapter member of the British Columbia Association of Community Music Schools since 1987.

The Conservatory offers our community a curriculum that takes the students from a beginning level to professional level. We do this through private instruction with professional teachers and performers, as well as group settings where the students advance from the fundamentals of group ensemble playing to professional orchestral training (Side by Side project).

Music is an essential part of anyone's education and life experience. Learning an instrument can improve concentration, coordination, character (through diligent practice), self-confidence (through performance), appreciation of different kinds of music, and ability to express ideas and emotions. In other words, a quality music education can provide the tools needed for success in life. And that's not even mentioning the life-long love of music that will be created or the possibility of a career in music!
